Keilor Hotel - 1849

A book by Historian Susan Jennison

A jewel in Keilorʼs History.

The history of this hotel records events and experiences of thousands of people who have passed through Keilor village. Keilor Hotel is linked to the local area history and is significant as a ʻrare survivorʼ of the 19th century squatting era. Historian Susan Jennison relates the history of the hotel ranging from the exciting years of the Gold Rush era in the 1850s to the years in between when the small town relied on farming activities. Keilor Hotel is still there, having survived and expanded from its inn status. It is a thriving centre of hospitality activity in the 21st century.
